Steel & Wood Sculptor/Artist By Lewis Alexander
Hi there,
First off I would like to say thank you for inventing and unleashing a truly professional saw. I purchased this beautiful Evolution RAGE S.A.W a week ago from a local professional trade counter and had already heard so much about it. so now its a MAJOR part of my metal and woodshop armoury.
I work as a completely blind artist in wood and metal in the heart of north wales in a small but comfortable workshop. before using the Rage I was having to use several machines for cutting different materials including a 9 inch angle grinder, which is one of the pro makes but still big, bulky and loud, a professional 9 inch circular saw for wood etc. So now the Rage has cut down the use of other machines, now having passed on my 9 inch circular saw and grinder to a friend. I now trust in my Rage for cutting everything I use, from soft and hardwoods, to steels including round bar 35mm diameter, EN3 steels as a test, and box section steels etc.
My first project was a tripod made out of 1/2 inch square iron bar, so cutting was a breeze, I built a special jig for use with the rage for cutting to sizes without a worry to feel my way around and be in contact with the blade before cutting.
As I work with metal as part of my art, I also use welding equipment mainly a decent and comfortable arc inverter welder for everything. So having the Rage sitting next to my welder is a pleasure and a safeguard.
There's so much I could tell you about this amazing machine and I am so glad to own one. in fact my next purchase will definitely be the Rage 3 saw. Why you ask? Well I would be using it as a full featured workshop saw for splitting steel box sections at compound mitre standards for many uses, cross cutting hardwood sections and so much more.
For me, having a saw which is designed with a professional standard its an essential, I'm able to feel my way around the saw to set up angles, depths etc. and have the confidence to power it up. No vibration, quieter than other machines and so universal. I love it.
I have so far spoken to friends of mine in the fabrication industry and recommended them to your machines. in fact I've even taken my Rage on a workshop floor in a fabrication company and showed them how well it glides through 2mm stainless steel plate work at 8ft x 4ft and what it could really do that a sheet guillotine couldn't do.
I sing this machine's praises daily, in fact I took it out today for some work on a small palette truck. I made a modification to my small puller to feature two 2 inch x 5 inch hardened box sections at 24 inch length, cut them to size and on the lifting end took a 45 degree mitre off with the Rage. went straight through without a struggle, moan or anything at all.
the next project for me is to build a custom engineering workmate. so yes..... you guessed it the Rage will be there and my welder too.
Sorry I dont have any pictures available. there's no one around to take anything like that for me but work can be seen by visiting my humble home and workshop.
Once again. many many thanks.
From Ed: Great stuff, glad you're enjoying the Evolution Rage. I would like to add that we don't make any formal claims of it's ability to cut stainless steel, as Stainless steel is such an unknown quantity with so many different types available. However the application mentioned here certainly appeared to be well within the limits of a RAGE saw. Keep up the good work and we wish you every success with your sculpturing.
