Stainless Steel Window Fitting and Trims
Adam Ashton (Rydal Engineering)

We design and build special glass and exhibition structures. Usually these are from prefabricated parts, but we decided the RAGE3 255mm Multipurpose Sliding Mitre Saw would be an ideal accessory for any site-measured cutting.

The problem we have is that glass structures often have stainless steel fittings and trims. Anyone who has tried to cut these knows how difficult it is. We rang Evolution to check whether they recommended the RAGE3 for cutting stainless steel and cautiously they advised against it.

We however decided to go ahead and give it a try. The photos show that we got some very satisfactory results. A little filing was required afterwards to clean up the mitre edges but otherwise we were very pleased.

I imagine we may need to sharpen the blade more often when we cut stainless steel.

We now look forward to testing out its other features on other materials.

Thank you for this excellent tool.

From Ed: Thanks for the story; it's always good to see Evolution tools providing solutions to any problems you may face within your field. I would like to add that we don't make any formal claims of the saw's ability to cut stainless steel, because stainless steel is such an unknown quantity with so many different types available.
