19.07.2008    Is Hammond's 'Oliver' to receive the Evolution treatment?

Popular classic car magazine Practical Classics have been handed the enviable task of restoring Richard Hammond's beloved Opel Kadett, Oliver for a top secret TV project. But the Kadett is apparently a long way from being ready for its second TV appearance; the shell requires extensive restoration and a full respray.

Given the close association Evolution have with Practical Classics it is more than likely the self confessed car nuts will utilise Evolution's Multipurpose Professional RAGE® Saws during the restoration process. The RAGE3 has been standing proudly in the PC workshop in recent weeks and now it looks as though it's about to get its first taste of celebrity.

Hammond, nicknamed The Hamster, fell for the car during filming an African special of Top Gear. Giving an interview to Practical Classics the Top Gear presenter said: 'Poor old Oliver's in a bit of a state but now he's in the best possible hands. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel again, especially after he's wearing his new coat of paint.'
